The Declaration of Independence
Introduction
What are some things that kids your age complain about?
Activity 1 - The Break Up
Activity 2 - Translate and Prepare a Skit
The components of this letter can also be seen in the Declaration of Independence. Just as you broke down the ideas in the break-up letter, you will interpret the language used in the Declaration of Independence in small groups and then create a storyboard of a skit to share your interpretations with the class. |
Working in a small group, you will be given one of the five sections of the Declaration of Independence and translate it into common language.
- When you have successfully translated your section, begin working on a storyboard to create the outline of the skit they will perform for the class.
- Include captions and thought/voice bubbles, create props and costumes to enhance the class’ understanding of your section of the Declaration of Independence.
Homework
- Finish translating your section of the Declaration of Independence.
- Meet with your group to work on your storyboard and prepare props for your skits.
